85 Degrees Bakery

One of my favorite things to do in life (sounds a bit dramatic, I know) is finding good pastry/bakery places. I know you LA folks know if Urth Caffe and possibly Torrance Cafe, but today, I want to tell you about this one fabulous bakery in Irvine (yes, Orange County).

I know how Angelenos can be reluctant to travel to Orange County, but I guarantee this bakery is definitely worth the drive!

It is located off the 405 S Exit Jamboree on Alton Pkwy. It's very easy to find, except the first time you go, you may be confused and lost in the shopping center since it is surrounded by many restaurants and markets.

85 Degrees is tucked away in the corner, but you can't miss it. The line for the bakery is conspicuously long.

Sometimes, you even have to wait in line twice, once to get the pastries and another to pay for them.

The first thing you do is grab a big tray and a pair of tongs, and from that point on, you can grab as many pastries as you want and crave. No one is rushing so you can take your time looking at each pastry and seeing which ones you want.

They have different types of break ranging from custard muffin to Hawaiian pizza bread. Every pastry is unique and suits different appetites. The breads/pastries aren't too sweet, which allows for seconds and thirds.

The staff is efficient, and while you are waiting in line, the staff will put your pastries in individual wrappers. It's a friendly place, and you are in and out of there quick, if there isn't 20-30 people in line waiting (which happens often).

I highly recommend this fabulous bakery, and please share your experiences!
